Business Improvement Districts and Enterprise Zones

A Business Improvement District (BID) is a business led partnership, created through a ballot process, to deliver additional services to local businesses.

Ratepayers agree an additional levy to finance the BID, and decide on the way their money is spent to improve the local trading environment.

An Enterprise Zone (EZ) is a geographically defined area, agreed between a Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and the Government.

The EZ is designed to encourage business development and generate jobs through a combination of financial incentives and reduced planning restrictions.
